Price hit Nashville in the early 1950s, rooming for a short time with Hank Williams. When Williams died, Price took over Williams' band, the Drifting Cowboys, and had minor success. He was the first artist to have a hit with "Release Me" (1953), a song made famous by Engelbert Humperdinck in 1967. However, Price became one of the stalwarts of the grinding, honky tonk music that became even more popular in the early 1950s with such singers as Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Webb Pierce and others. Price developed the famous "Ray Price Shuffle Beat" that is heard on "Crazy Arms," which served as the beat for many honky-tonk classics since then.

I Love You Because Lyrics

Ray Price

(Leon Payne)
I love you because you understand, dear
Every single thing I try to do
You're always there to lend a helping hand, dear
I love you most of all because you're you.
No matter what the world may say about me
I know your love will always see me through
I love you for the way you never doubt me
But most of all I love you 'cause you're you.
--- Instrumental ---
I love you because my heart is lighter
Every time I'm walking by your side
I love you because my future's brighter
The door to happiness you've opened wide.
No matter what may be the style or seasons
I know your heart will always be true
I love you for a hundred thousand reasons
But most of all I love you because you're you...
